Testimonials
“When my daughter was an infant, she struggled with feeding and was not gaining weight appropriately. I was really anxious — and exhausted! Gere was so helpful: she was gentle and loving with my baby and patient with me. More importantly, she gave us a range of options and exercises that ultimately resolved the problem and my daughter (now 2) is healthy and very happy. We are very grateful for Gere’s wisdom and assistance.”
“I’ve worked as a board-certified lactation consultant for over 25 years. With many years of experience it has become clear that sometimes a baby needs different types of support and expertise (outside the scope of my practice) that I may uncover in the course of helping new moms learn to feed their babies. One of my greatest resources is Gere Newell Clark who is expert in working on sucking and feeding issues with newborns and the things that may impact their experience of feeding at the breast or bottle. She is a tremendous clinician with great depth and breadth of knowledge from her years of experience. Her early interventions can change the course of feeding challenges and their outcomes in a powerful way. I highly recommend her both because of her outstanding clinical skills and knowledge as well as the kind and supportive manner in which she supports new families and infants on their journey.”
“Gere was recommended to us by our lactation consultant when our daughter was having trouble bottle feeding. Gere took the time to listen to our concerns and our family routines and conducted a thorough assessment to determine Eleanor’s needs. She designed a home program and helped us monitor her progress. Within a few weeks Eleanor was taking a bottle like a champ! We returned to Gere when our younger daughter was having similar challenges. Gere’s work with our family allowed Mom to return to work since baby Clara could now take a bottle. Gere is very thorough in assessing, treating, and following up with clients. She has a very welcoming demeanor, which is necessary for worried parents! Gere is very responsive with communication and is a pleasure to work with.”
“I am excited to say that I’ve noticed some really neat things happening with Elise since our visit. I’ve been implementing the strategies into our routine and she is showing a significant improvement in her ability to nurse. She seems to do it with less effort, and is able to finish the SNS bag in less and less time. Tonight was a record of 15 minutes as compared to 30-45 minutes. (When we first started, it could take close to a hour). She definitely stays latched better and there is less frustration with latching. My husband noticed that she is sucking really vigorously on the bottle as well.”
“Gere Newell Clark, M.A., CCC is one of the finest Speech and Language Pathologists with whom I have ever worked. Her sensitivity and expertise in parent infant interactions guided our staff to help parents integrate treatment approaches while providing loving interactions. She was an integral part of our research grant at the Illinois Institute for Developmental Disabilities where she developed an innovative assessment and treatment program to facilitate parent-infant interaction. Gere coauthored two research papers in the Journal of Infant Mental Health. Her expertise in feeding treatment for the infant is without parallel. Her perspective is not only informed by decades of experience but also by her perceptive understanding and empathy.”
